Archery: With nine new archers, the archery team looks to have another strong season. Co-captains Will Wu ’19 and Kiki Kim ’20 will lead the team this year. Wu said, “We will be paying a lot more attention to handling stress, and, hopefully, we would have a stronger mindset when competing in Nationals this February.” If the newcomers reach their potential, this team should be able to live up to expectations.

Boys’ Basketball: After winning the Class A New England Championship last year, the team looks to repeat last season’s success. The team returns key contributors from last year and brings in dynamic post-graduates Aaron Gao ’19, Andrew Kenny ’19, and Chuma Azinge ’19. Senior co-captain Hunter Jameson ’19 said, “We are looking to have a strong upcoming season. We are hopeful to continue last year’s success.” Overall, this is a team packed with talent that should compete for another championship.

Girls’ Basketball: Girls’ Varsity Basketball brings back an experienced squad ready to win New England’s. The team is incredibly accomplished with seven seniors and post-graduates. Jocelyn Polansky ’19 and Sam Gallo ’19 will lead the team on both ends of the floor. Polansky said, “We have a completely new dynamic this year. We have a team filled with talent. Three of our starting five players are committed to continuing their academic and basketball careers at the Division 1 level.” This team has a high ceiling, with the potential to grab a New England Championship.

Diving: All signs point to the diving team being a dominant group during the season. Kobe Tray ’19 looks to continue to dominate the competition and compete for his fourth-straight New England Championship. Nicole Weinrauch ’20 will place highly for the girls. The combination of skilled divers on this team should translate into victories this season.

Boys Hockey: Despite having a disappointing season last year, Boys’ Varsity Hockey hopes to bounce back by having a strong season and possibly earning a spot in the New England playoffs. New-junior goalie Tyler McDermott ’20 will be a reliable force in the net, and forwards Chris Guyette ’19, Zach Yokoyama ’20, and John Russo ’20 will provide a scoring punch on the offensive end. Guyette said, “In general, we are excited for the season ahead. Both the coaching staff and players are focused on getting better every single day.” The team should improve greatly upon last season.

Girls’ Hockey: After winning their first three games already, Girls’ Varsity Hockey is off to a strong start. The team has experienced players, such as Liza Diffley ’19, Kaitlyn O’Donohoe ’19, and Kaleah Haddock ’19. However, it also has lots of young talent, like Morgann Skoda ’22 and skilled goalie Lexington Secreto ’21. This team has leadership and lots of room to improve as the season progresses. The combination of experience and youth on this team should result in the team being able to make a run to the New England playoffs.

Boys’ Squash: Unlike years prior, this year’s squash team has exceptional depth across every spot on the ladder, which should hopefully lead to a successful season. Jei Ho ’20 and post-graduate Ben Goldstein ’19 give the team elite talent at the top. Jonathan Lin ’19 said, “What is different about the team this year is our ladder depth. Our entire team is extremely capable of challenging each other during practices, rather than having a strong upper half of the ladder and a drop-off in the bottom.” The team should definitely impress on the courts this winter.

Girls’ Squash: Usually one of the most successful teams on campus, this year’s team is exceptionally talented and will look to be one of the best high-school squash teams in the nation once again. The team is headlined by newcomer Meagan Best ’20, who participated in the Youth Olympic Games this year, but also boasts skilled captains Hope Worcester ’19, Mia Krishnamurthy ’19, and Samantha Stevenson ’19. Worcester said, “Girls’ Varsity Squash is looking really strong this year. This will definitely be the strongest team I’ve played on in my four years, and it’s really exciting to have so much potential.” The team will certainly look to fulfill its potential on the courts this winter and compete for another National Championship.

Boys’ Swimming: Even though the team lost some fast swimmers last year, Boys’ Varsity Swimming will still look to have a strong season. Sprinters Ben Cho ’22 and Parker Scott ’20 will be reliable contributors to the team. Co-captain Matt Anastasio ’19 said, “I think that the more we practice, the stronger we will look, and the boys’ team has a lot of potential with new swimmers.” This team should overcome last year’s losses to possibly win the Founders League and place highly at New England’s.

Girls’ Swimming: After defeating a fast Andover squad on Saturday, December 1, Girls’ Varsity Swimming will look to carry the momentum throughout the season. The team is filled with talented swimmers like Sam Scott ’20 and Zoe Tray ’21, who will be consistent contributors to the team all year. Laura Solano-Florez ’20 said, “I think we are looking pretty great because we beat Andover, who is consistently one of the strongest teams in New England.” This team has the potential to have a special season if it continues to outwork every other school.

Wrestling: Varsity Wrestling has talent across all weight groups, which should result in a successful season. Early season results look promising, as the team finished third out of 13 schools in a tournament, with first-place finishes from Jack Fiala ’19 and Cameron Polemi-Hegarty ’20. Co-captain Tommy Wachtell ’19 said, “The team is looking pretty good for our upper weights, and we have a group a new kids that are working really hard.” As the season progresses, look for positive results from the team.
