Iron Chef:

Rated best Japanese restaurant of 2017 by the Record-Journal, Iron Chef’s North Colony Road location is not just an atmospheric place to enjoy a sushi roll or a steaming plate of hibachi, but also a convenient takeout spot. The owner of Iron Chef, David Chen, opened the restaurant with a true passion for authentic Japanese food. David has more than two decades of experience in the restaurant industry and operates Iron Chef from the heart. “The takeout experience was great,” said Shraya Poetti ’19. “I remember the guy was really nice, even when we struggled for upwards of three minutes to figure out if we were paying via cash or card. They were very hospitable.” Iron Chef’s dinner menu offers a wide variety of choices, including soups, salads, fusion dishes, the very popular sushi bar, Asian bistro, and signature rolls. Aside from the dishes available on the dinner menu, Iron Chef also offers a wide selection of lunch, appetizer, and dessert items, all at reasonable prices, with an edamame appetizer for $4 and tempura ice cream for $5. The restaurant only makes deliveries after 5:00 p.m.

Sirinan’s Thai and Japanese:

Serving American Japanese fare like California rolls in addition to pad thai and other Thai food favorites, Sirinan’s Thai and Japanese brings food inspired by two cultures under one roof. Sirinan’s in Wallingford offers a variety of lunch and dinner options. “I’ve ordered sushi from Sirinan’s on multiple occasions, and it has always been quite good,” said Graham Keating ’19. “My favorite is the lobster roll, which is amazing, but it’s mad expensive.” The sushi roll is the most pricey one on the menu at $16.95. Sirinan’s multicultural approach to dining increases the breadth of its menu, with vegetable tempura and seaweed salad sharing a menu with pho, roti canai, and pineapple fried rice. Dinner items, excluding sushi rolls, come with a side of wonton or miso soup. The restaurant even allows customers to order beverages like Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee for takeout. “Sirinan’s is just really convenient for me. They are quick with takeout, which is really helpful,” said Parth Mody ’19, who says he orders from the restaurant on a weekly basis. “My go-to meal is definitely the chicken drunken noodle; it has a lot of flavor.” Sirinan’s also offers both Thai and Japanese dessert items and many options for vegetarian customers. The restaurant has its own delivery service, so students are able to call and order right to their dorms. “They’re very nice people, very easy to talk to,” said Deanna Tan ’20. “The food takes about forty minutes to get here.

Kender’s Indian Palace:

Known for its modern interpretations of classic Indian dishes, Kender’s Indian Palace offers a wide variety of authentic Indian meals that can be enjoyed not only within the walls of the East Center Street location but also as takeout. As their website states, they are recognized for true flavors and insistence on incorporating fresh ingredients into everything on the menu. “You have some classic dishes like the chicken tikka masala, all the paneer, all the naan,” said Parth Mody ’19. “You could probably get two or three meals out of an order. The portions are good [sized].” Aside from being recognized for its excellent service and friendly staff, Kender’s also offers a wide selection of authentic dishes, including homemade naan and entrees chock full of chicken, lamb, beef, seafood, or paneer. Though Kender’s does not have its own delivery service, it allows customers to order online through Beyond Menu for pick-up. The restaurant also claims that it is possible to order through an outside delivery service linked on their website.
